Bruce R. McDonaldHelios Sugar & CreamerI am Bruce R. MacDonald and this is my company. I have been a metalsmith and design fiend for over twenty years trying to make sense of the collision of creative impulse and mechanical reality.

We are a rarity in this internet universe in that we hand make every piece you see on this site. My studio is currently four hard working humans with almost all the metalwork a result of my time and effort and the excellent skills of my good friend Toby who has been working with me for ten years. (He knows everything.) Of course we use high tech equipment but there is a great deal of centuries' old metalworking techniques in my shop. In fact, my favorite tools don't even plug in. So what you see in these pages is all handmade, full of nuance and the soulfullness of skilled hands in a tiny shop. We love this work and our success has been connecting with the folks who respect this personal, made-in-Vermont concept. We make heirlooms. This is our DNA.

The studio is in a hundred year old brick horse barn in Burlington, Vermont, on the shores of Lake Champlain. Our view across the water is of the Adirondack mountains of upstate New York. We are fortunate to have such an amazing yard for work and play. We spend time in the woods. We ski. We study the streamingZoomies Salt & Pepper continuum of worldwide design. We do good business. We recycle. The future is ours and we will be exuberant. We play with the kids and teach them art.

The integrity of the work is serious. Good design is the law around here. Making folks smile is just the moonlighting part of my job. Friendly folks will answer our phone. Everything is guaranteed to make you happy you own a piece of our work. We're happy when you're happy. Energy follows thought. We are dedicated to the making of sculpture and art that performs.
