Safari AssemblageAdam and EveSince the age of 12, Joan Wahl wanted to be a performing artist and a painter. As a teen she ran an arts program for children at summer camp, where painting, acting, music, writing plays and directing became an important part of her life. Her colorful abstracts filled her parents home where guests would often ask to purchase them.

In 1972 while exhibiting at the Winter Park Art Festival, Florida, she envisioned a magazine dedicated to artists in every media that would help them show and sell their creations. For 20 years she was editor and publisher of Sunshine Artist magazine.

Joan has studied watercolor with Terry Madden the host of a nationally syndicated public television series. Also oil painting with the Bob Ross group of professionals.

She enjoys teaching at area arts and crafts outlets as well as private classes she holds several times a year. Her paintings have been shown at the Maitland Art Center, offices, galleries and theatre space.

"Studying the modern art of Joan Wahl can be an intriguing experience. Her work is creative, modern and subjective-and the viewer is free to make any of several different interpretations of each piece."

Joan is concentrating on large abstracts in oil but loves to do flowers and parrots in watercolor. She is available for commissioned work.
