Neil D. MacLeod was born in Southbridge,
MA in 1975. His family moved to Gainesville, FL
in 1984 in search of a milder climate. It was in Gainesville that Neil discovered his
appreciation for art in junior high school when he signed up for art class
instead of band class by accidentally checking the wrong box on a class
registration form. After developing a
great appreciation for art, and discovering a little bit of talent, he
continued his artistic studies through high school and the University of Florida.
In 1998, Neil received his Bachelor of Arts in the History of Art from
The University of Florida. After
graduation in May of 1998, Neil married his high school sweetheart, Amy, and
they moved to Orlando
to begin their new life together. In Orlando, Neil was
fortunate enough to meet and begin studying painting under artist Marco
Bronzini of the Marco Bronzini Art
School in Naples, FL. Neil is currently a member of the Bronzini
Art Group based in Longwood, FL
and has participated in two group shows at the Casselberry Art House in Casselberry, FL. Neil currently has several paintings in
private collections throughout the U.S. He currently works in oil
paint on canvas and his subject matter has ranged from landscapes and
still-life to floral and figure studies. “Sometimes it’s difficult to limit
yourself to a specific style or subject matter.
When you get an idea in your head or feel inspired, you have to explore
it to see where it goes. It might turn
out great, it might not. It’s all part
of the process.”
